Sojourn Church about us We are an emerging church in Traverse City, Michigan that started in 2005 when some families got together to answer the question, “I dream of a church where...” The result was “Sojourn” which means being in a temporary place or on a journey. We are much more about “being” the church than “going to” church. We view Sojourn as a faith community of people who live life together. Our vision is to be a community of messy people on a journey together to follow Jesus, by loving God and loving others. Our mission is to be used by God to bring healing and hope to a broken world. Our community doesn’t have membership. The word to describe this community…belonging. Each person is a vital part. Each person should be known, cared for and loved. Each person should feel like this is their family. Each person is necessary and belongs to this faith community, so rather than having membership we have decided to covenant with one another as peacemakers. Here is our PeaceMakers Covenant.
