Our Leadership Philosophy
Who's in charge?  Who makes the decisions?  Who's the head honcho?  These are all questions that come up when we discuss leadership.  Leadership is necessary and it is biblical.  God was always calling men and women to step up to the plate and guide His people.  But this takes on many different "looks" when it comes to the local church.  So here is our attempt to describe how we see leadership in the community of Sojourn Church.
First, we believe that leadership was meant to occur within a community of leaders.  We have no ONE guy who drives the entire bus.  If you will, we have no "Senior Pastor".  Our desire is to have a team of gifted people who will work together to bring spiritual leadership to Sojourn.  No one leader is more important than the rest.  Some may earn their income from the support of the church community, others may earn their income from another career.  But all lead together.
Second, these men and women are a part of the community.  They are set apart to a unique role but fulfill that role, live that role out while being in the community.  They will look like everybody else.  They will go by their first names.  They will lead out of their character and life instead of a title or position.
Third,  Jesus is the head of the Church.  He is the cornerstone.  The person on which all else is built.  We will seek His direction, and we will pray for His guidance.
